Hi guys, I'm a big fan of splendor.
Since I haven't been able to find any online version so far, I've decided to write one myself.
Been tested with some close friends, and I think it's time to make it public so our worldwide splendor fans will have a place to hang out!
Hope to see more people playing this game!
There's no need for a pop-up box.
You should just have a box somewhere on the page where the chips go, with an OK button to click when you're done selecting.
I really enjoyed this, thanks for doing it.
Kind of reminds me of Androminion in that it's really stripped down to the key elements.
The only thing I might say is that it would be great if one could move the window when you look at a reserve card as sometimes I would have to open and close it a bunch when I needed to see how many gems I needed to get to finally buy it, and the window was obscuring splendor board game online view.
I look forward to playing it more tonight!
Particularly when I have to return chips to the supply, I would like to be able to look at my cards in order to make an informed decision.
I should be able to look at all three at a glance.
I would appreciate it if I could set a preference such that all of my games start at slow speed so that I don't have to select it every time.
Thank you so much, although I'm three weeks away from graduation and you've just put my focus in serious jeopardy.
I'd like to see: 1.
An easier way to see your reserved cards 2.
An easier way to see how many chips you have 3.
The ability to see your cards when having to ditch chips 4.
Some way to ping someone when it's their turn, and remove them if they're not playing Does the Elo system work?
I've won games against both computers and people and my rating is still 1500.
I'd like to see: 1.
An easier way to see your reserved cards 3.
The ability to see your cards when having to ditch chips 4.
Thanks for everybody's valuable comments.
I've already addressed a couple of issues mentioned, especially making all the popups movable.
Yes, it was kind of stupid to block the game view!
ELO rating was working, but only for games without computers before, as I wasn't expecting computer players to be that popular.
Now I think that it's ok to remove that requirement.
So your ratings will get changed next time!
I just played a game against the computer where the computer's logic was a little wonky.
I had already built a couple of cards of those colors, so it wasn't too much of an issue for me.
But the only chips that were available to draw were black and white.
The computer kept drawing a white and black chip and then returning them.
It happened like nine times in a row.
Obviously there's some logical flaw in it's reasoning in that situation.
All cards are listed in the white-starting pattern that I mention.
I think that the order should be corrected.
It would be nice if there were no popups for choosing coins, and particularly windows that cannot be moved and obscure the playing area.
With the window up, you cannot see the coins that everyone has.
Perhaps doing something with the normal coin sub-window so there are no popups?

Yeah, there's no need for a pop up.
board game on ellen show already a row of coins you can click on.
Just section off a corner of the screen with an area you can show which coins have been selected so far and a submit button.
First, I am happy the game is available.
Thanks for creating it.
Computer players are not sophisticated, but quite enough as a solo training machine.
I hope they will play better in the future.
I do not like the rating.
I believe it is based on a number of turns.
This way the better I am, the smaller gain to my ranking I receive.
Maybe it should be based on a difference between my score and an average of scores of this game participants?
No, this would make playing with bad players more profitable.
It should be something different, but for sure not just the number of turns.
Please do not rank games without at least one human opponent.
As others mentioned, picking coins could be done better.
A popup is OK for me.
However I would like to see my coins btw a count of my coins always visible next to them would be nicemy reserved cards and cards available.
Dimming the screen makes seeing colors difficult easy to confuse black and blue.
Could my reserved cards be always visible to me?
It is sometimes difficult to notice which card another player reserved.
In an original game you always know which place the card was taken from.
Here other cards are aligned to the left immediately.
EDIT: Reserved card can be checked in a log One more thing.
It happened twice for me in 70+ games.
A game is finished.
There are "Game finished" etc.
There's no need for it to pop-up and hide anything.
You'd just click on the coins, and instead of popping up anything, it just puts the coin you clicked on into the coin selection box.
You click pick when you're ready to take the coins.
The spacing on the card display where you see your own cards only has enough room for 7 cards.
Beyond that you can't see any additional cards.
And I realize that normally building more than seven isn't that importnat, but I got into a bind and had to buy up all the greens so that my opponent wouldn't steal a noble away from me.
I know I purchased something like 9 greens, but I couldn't tell how many at the end of the game.
I've moved the nobles above the cards where they should be anyway and put a permanent chip selection area at the bottom.
With a 12" laptop screen I would need to scroll to pick chips.

The game log could be moved to the right, above the chat windows then.

I think that the indicator of the current player should be more obvious.
Perhaps leave the non-players as is, but make the current player bright green?
Thanks for everybody's comments.
I think you guys raised some good points, especially about the coin picking.
Let me addresses the issues raised, and do ping me if I have missed any.
Coin Picking Let me explain a few rationale behind the current design first.
I spent a lot of effort trying to pack everything together so they can fit into small screen size.
I believe everybody would agree it's very bad if you need to scroll which was also being pointed out.
As an side effect, I also noticed the problem where you can't see all your cards if you do get more than 7.
I intentionally ignore this because the most expensive card cost you only 7 chips of the one color, so having to know you have 7 cards, 8 splendor board game online or 12 cards probably won't make any difference unless of course if you are serious enough to remember cards and make statistical predictions on the face-down deck.
Also, I'm not sure everybody has noticed, if you click on the area of your chips, you can see an overview of your holding chips and cards.
It's not perfect, but I think it could address part of the problem.
Back to the coin pickings popup, I'm not entirely against the idea of removing the popup, but here is a couple of reasons for keeping that: - Fitting the screen side, as mentioned above.
Moving the GameLogs to the right above chat is considerable, but I'm still hesitate because the gamelog is actually pretty splendor board game online, and the chat column isn't visible to a lot of devices having smaller screen size.
The main screen is only showing all the components, and every actions are done via the popup window.
Indeed, almost all the components on the main screen is clickable, and then details wisconsin uk espn gamecast shown subsequently on the popup level.
That's why a standalone popup would be easier to tell splendor board game online going on here, and I can make some effects to guide them through it e.
Rating The rating is calculated only based on the final ranks of human players.
The number of turns doesn't matter.
Also, computer players won't affect your rating.
Indicator for current player Yes, I agree.
I will try to work out something!
Color confusion Yes, I noticed blue and black are sometime confusing, so I'm trying to work on adding some texture or symbol over the chips, so people having problems with colors could still enjoy the game.
bingo board games, I think being observant on splendor board game online available cards is part of the game challenge.
I would like to hear what other people think.
Computer players My intention for making computer players is for personal training, as mentioned.
I make an online version so to play go board can play against each others, and I think that's the fun part.
I'm not sure having an invincible AI would create any value.
But I agree that the AI can still improve, like in terms of strategy variety.
Right now, their play is kind of dull.
Of course, I need to admit that, I'm not that good in implementing AI, so this it the area I would like to explore more.
Thanks again for all the valuable opinions.
I'd love to see different Computer AI players keep each version you come up with as separate choices and also allow them to gain their own ratings.
It will probably be very interesting to play different ones and see how well they each do against humans and other AIs.

Splendor is a game of chip-collecting and card development. Players are merchants of the Renaissance trying to buy gem mines, means of transportation, shops—all in order to acquire the most prestige points. If you're wealthy enough, you might even receive a visit from a noble at some point, which of course will further increase your prestige.

I have written a Windows version of Splendor--more of a trainer really.
It allows up to 4 players click to see more can play on the same PC and has a decent AI computer opponent.
The graphics are not good but the gameplay is solid.
There is currently no internet play or asynchronous play.
Click the download icon at the top center of the screen.
Thanks, Derek Hope to hear some bug reports or enhancement requests.
I found a rules mistake in the free version.
I'm not sure where to post about it to bring it to the attention of the designer.
When you complete the requirements for two nobles in the same turn you should not be given both noble cards.
The rules state that you can take one noble and must wait til the splendor board game online of your next turn to take another.
It is a good game apart from that.
I'm not sure how highly I would rate the AI or how it would compare to the official app but it does the job well and handles the rules change that the official app is stuffing up with drawing excess tokens and discarding down to 10 I think it was and allowing a player to taken less than three different coloured tokens.
That's a splendor board game online catch.
I only realized just recently that was a rule: that you can only take one noble per turn.
Will get it fixed.
Thanks, Derek Updated the application to make players select 1 noble if they could be awarded multiples on 1 turn.
These are comma-separated-value files and are editable in any text editor.
These files contain information about each of the cards including point value, color, and cost.
If you follow the basic convention of no more than 4 different types of gems purchase cost per card then it will work with the application.
Thank you for putting together Splen.
It does take a while to gain situational awareness.
The information is there it just takes some time.
Having the cards that can be purchased stand out helps.
I like having the CSV files available.
The ability to mod is one of the things I miss when playing the iOS version of a game.
The noble change does indeed limit the awarding of a noble card to just one when the requirements for two or more are met.
However, it goes a little too far.
The next turn I was not click to secure the second noble.
The splendor board game online should reset each turn.
The application should have automatically awarded the second noble card you earned on the next turn assuming another player didn't earn it on their turn.
It worked for me in my testing.
Will work on adding the functionality to reserve a card 'blindly' from the deck.
That's a cool ability.
Thanks, Derek Perhaps it was user observation error on my part.
I will play till I get a two noble situation and pay close attention to what happens.
If I see it happen again I will take a screen shot.
Modified the app to allow you to reserve a card from cards not yet revealed from the top of a deck.
Just right-click to reserve.
The application should have automatically awarded the second noble card you earned on the next turn assuming another splendor board game online didn't earn it on their turn.
It worked for me in my testing.
I created another duel noble situation.
I get the first one.
I do not get the second one when I completed my next turn by taking chips.
I do get the second noble the next time I complete a card.
I have screen shots if you need them.
They couldn't be viewed or selected in that case.
What was it written in?
Is it something you'd be willing to share the source for?
I'm rather interested in the AI for the computer players.
It does that to me too.
I figured it was my 8 year old lower resolution monitor.
It is tricky because the top bar goes off the top of the screen so I can't select a top or bottom edge to resize the window.
The answer for me was to hit Window key + left arrow.
That puts the program on half the screen with the top half reachable.
I then resize the screen.
I can just barely fit the play area on my monitor.
Part of the bottom is cut off but there is no game information or function there.
I can work on making the game resize a bit better.
The game is written in Powerbuilder 12.
Send me a private email if you want a copy of he source code.
This was more of a project I picked up on a whim for fun.
Added a screen shot from the game to splendor board game online />I've also tweaked the game a little bit so it'll fit on smaller screens.
Still, about the smallest you'd want to play it on is 1600x900.
Derek Ok, after having played several games the one thing I would probably recommend most is that given that you are mostly LEFT clicking in the game you should put a tip in there that you have to RIGHT click to reserve a card.
Unable to figure this out at the right time I thought I couldn't reserve a card and unable to do so cost me the game.
Other than this, given the simple look of the game I find your efforts to be well done.
Thanks for all that you've done on this so far!
That's a good idea.
In fact, a short instruction screen explaining how to play the game wouldn't be bad.
But the right-click to reserve definitely needs to be made known.
Thanks, D Added a splen.
I use it often.
Any chance that the number of points to win could be chosen at the start of the game as an splendor board game online />Geekdo, BoardGameGeek, the Geekdo logo, and the BoardGameGeek logo are trademarks of BoardGameGeek, LLC.

Color confusion Yes, I noticed blue and black are sometime confusing, so I'm trying to work on adding some texture or symbol over the chips, so people having problems with colors could still enjoy the game.
Personally, I think being observant on your available cards is part of the game challenge.
I would like to hear what other people think.
Computer players My intention for making computer players continue reading for personal training, as mentioned.
I make an online version so people can play against each others, and I think that's the fun part.
I'm not sure having an invincible AI splendor board game online create any value.
